INFORMED CONSENT FOR THE PROCESSING OF PERSONAL DATA IN THE PLATFORM THE

BRIDGE

Personal data we process
In this project, students will firstly be asked to fill out a form, in which they must include their
institutional email and, if they intend to, the main causes that led them to seek psychological support.
The content of the answers provided in this form might include special categories of data (such as race,
ethnicity, political opinions, religious or philosophical beliefs, genetic or biometric data, health data or
data relating to sexual orientation). The same applies to the conversations between the students and
the psychologists, during which such subjects may arise.
The chat application, used to establish contact between the students and psychologists, keeps a record
of conversations, which is stored securely and confidentially. The data subject is entitled to request the
erasure of their data at any time.
Legal basis for the processing
The processing of personal data by NOVA, in this platform – The Bridge – is based on the consent of the
data subjects, in the terms stated in this document.
Why do we need your personal data?
The platform The Bridge aims at providing psychological support to NOVA students. Besides this
purpose, the data collected also aims to provide a better understanding of the needs of NOVA students’
and the reasons why they seek help from psychologists.
Occasionally, we would like to contact you in order to know your opinion about our platform and
provide you with information that might be of your interest.
NOVA will only process personal data for the mentioned purposes, except when it considers that the
data is needed for other purposes, and those purposes are compatible with the initial ones. Specifically,
your data might be used for scientific or historic research and statistical purposes. In any case, NOVA will
ensure that the legal requirements for the reuse of data are complied with.
How long will we store your personal data?
To ensure that your personal data is stored only for the necessary period, NOVA has set a time period of
1 year for the periodic revision of the necessity of the stored data, in which it will assess its relevance for
scientific or historical research purposes and statistical purposes. In some cases, the storage of your
data might occur for longer periods of time, namely when the law so requires.
